By Car

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is located in the Texas Medical Center® on Old Spanish Trail, situated between Fannin Street and Almeda Road, facing William C. Harvin Boulevard. Old Spanish Trail (OST) is easily accessed from U.S. Hwy. 288.

 

Traveling either east- or west-bound on OST, look for a large Entrance 46 sign at the intersection of OST and William C. Harvin Blvd. There is no stop sign or traffic light at the intersection. Turn north onto William C. Harvin Blvd. The Institute will be on your right. Limited, short-term visitor parking is located in front of the building facing William C. Harvin Blvd.

By Bus

The nearest bus stop to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is number 12697 at Old Spanish Trail and Bertner Ave. Upon exiting the bus at this stop, walk east, approximately .1 mile, along Old Spanish Trail until you see a large Entrance 46 sign on your left at the intersection of OST and William C. Harvin Blvd. Walk north along William C. Harvin Blvd for a short distance and the Institute will be on your right.

 

By Rail

Take the MetroRail to Smith Lands Station. You will need to walk approximately .6 miles the rest of the way to the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences – Walk south along Greenbriar Drive and turn left onto Old Spanish Trail. Look for a large Entrance 46 sign at the intersection of OST and William C. Harvin Blvd. Walk north along William C. Harvin Blvd for a short distance and the Institute will be on your right.

 

Forensic Genetics Laboratory

By Car

The Forensic Genetics Laboratory is located on the Texas Medical Center® John P. McGovern Campus on Holcombe Boulevard, situated between Highway 288 and Almeda Road. Holcombe Boulevard can be accessed from U.S. Hwy. 288.

 

Traveling either east- or west-bound on Holcombe Blvd., look for a large Entrance 81 sign. This is the main entrance into visitor parking for the John P. McGovern Campus.

By Bus

The nearest bus stop to the Forensic Genetics Laboratory is number 9627 at Holcombe Blvd. and Grand Blvd. Upon exiting the bus at this stop, walk south, approximately .1 mile, along Grand Blvd. until you see a parking gate entrance. Walk through the entrance and the laboratory will be straight ahead and on your right.

 

By Rail

Take the MetroRail to Dryden/TMC Station. You will need to walk approximately 1.8 miles the rest of the way to the Forensic Genetics Laboratory – Walk south along Fannin Street and turn left onto Holcombe Blvd. Turn right onto Grand Blvd. and continue walking until you see a parking gate entrance. Walk through the entrance and the laboratory will be straight ahead and on your right.
